Gastonia - Jimmy Carl Wright, 79, passed away on Tuesday, August 20, 2019 at his residence with his family by his side.
He was born in Memphis, TN on July 16, 1940 to the late Wilbur Lee and Mollie Louise Delaney Wright. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Jimmy "David" Wright.
He is survived by his loving wife, Vickey Rudd Wright of Gastonia; children Regina Norris of Gastonia; Rhonda Akers (Richard) of Bessemer City; Jimmy "Wayne" Wright (Jeannie) of Blacksburg, SC; Vickey Lynn Hale (Justin) of Kings Mountain; Carl "Matthew" Wright of Gastonia; 12 Grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life service will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 24th at Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home Chapel, 2916 Union Road, Gastonia, NC with Dr. Paul Brintley and Rev. Thomas Kos officiating. Military Honors provided by the Gaston County Honor Guard. Visitation for family and friends will be from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m., prior to the service.
Interment will follow at Armstrong Cemetery.
