Dallas- James Anderson 'Jimmy' Boyd, 84 of Dallas passed away January 3, 2012 at Carolina Medical Center, NE Concord, NC.

He was a native of Gaston County, born September 27, 1927 to the late John and Christine Chaney Boyd.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Walter, Calvin and Johnny Boyd, sisters Grace Strange, Polly Heafner, Ruth Lingafelt, Carolyn Moore, Irene Boyd and Annie Mae Rhyne.

Jimmy was a WWII veteran of the US Marines where he received the Purple Heart and many other medals; Jimmy was a big US Marine and supported all militaries and especially the disabled veterans. He was a member of Flint Grove Baptist Church and worked as a butcher. Jimmy loved his cockatiel birds Carlos and Jill.

Survivors include his daughters Lucinda B Perron and husband Fred of Dallas; Christina B Taylor and husband Jeff of GA;
Sister Beatrice Boyd of Gastonia; Sister-in-law Iva Lee Boyd of Dallas Grandchildren Zachary Boyd and wife Jamie, Amy Helms and Sarah Love;
Great granddaughter Miranda Love Stepsons Kevin Pruitt and wife Vicky, Kimbell Pruitt and wife Jill

Funeral services will be 3:00 pm Sunday, January 8, 2012 at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home with Reverend Ken Faulkenberry officiating

The family will receive 1 hr prior to the service

Interment will be 12Noon on Monday, January 9, 2012 at Salisbury National Cemetery, 501 Statesville Blvd., Salisbury, NC 28144
