Gastonia – Jimmie Crowell Hill, 75, passed away January 17, 2015 at CaroMont Medical Center.
He was born in Marshville, NC on October 30, 1939 to the late Crowell and Lois Hathcock Hill.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Betty Howard, Richard Hill, Larry Hill and Lavonne Melton.
Jim was a member of Sandy Plains Baptist Church. He was a member and past Master of the King Solomon Masonic Lodge #704, Charlotte Scottish Rite 32 degree, Oasis Shrine. Jim was owner of Hill Management Systems. He served in the 11th Air Calvary Aviation Company, US Army.
Jim enjoyed woodworking, fishing and loved spending time with his family.
Survivors include his loving wife of 53 years, Linda Mumpower Hill; his daughters, Angela Flack and husband David of Fredericksburg, VA; Karen Mintz of Fayetteville, NC; grandchildren, Erin Mecum of Gastonia, NC; Elie Flack of Fredericksburg, VA and Garrett Mintz of Fort Eustus, VA; and a sister Janice Barbee and husband Charlie of Locust, NC; special friends of the family Bob Erwin, Jimmie and Steve Smith all of Gastonia.
Funeral Service will be Tuesday, January 20th at 2:30 pm at Sandy Plains Baptist Church, 5323 Union Road, Gastonia, NC with Reverend Tim Parker and Dr. Reverend Stephen Hensley officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:30 pm prior to the service. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Military Honors by the Gaston County Honor Guard, with the releasing of the doves to follow.
Pallbearers will be John Hill, Benny Capps, Bobby Hice, Ronald Turner, Buck Glenn and Tommy Hoffman.
