Gastonia – Jerold Aubrey McAbee, 87, passed away on June 22, 2017 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center.

He was born in Gaston County on February 12, 1930 to the late Carl Clyde and Ruby Jane McHan McAbee.

Jerold was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother who will be greatly missed! He was a member of Maylo United Methodist Church. He previously owned City Cab, Pine Grove Service Station, Industrial Metal Craft and Heatherlock Textiles. Jerold enjoyed fishing and loved to work! He instructed Tae Kwon Do and very much a family man who enjoyed vacations with his family.

Survivors include his loving wife of 70 years, Sarah Phillips McAbee, daughters, Linda M. Rhyne (Mike); Jackie M. Davis (Roger) Cheryl M. Cottingham (Bill)
grandchildren, Cindy Stewart, Justin Cottingham (Allison); Christy Isenhour (Jason); Tyler Milstead, (Steven); Kelsey Davis and Aubree Davis; great grandchildren, Chance, Sailor, Ryder, Zane, Hanna and Charlie; sister, Retha Rickard

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Monday, June 26th at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home.

Celebration of Life Service will be held Tuesday, June 27th at 1:00 p.m., Maylo United Methodist Church, 1900 Spencer Mountain Road, Gastonia, NC with Reverend Jim King officiating.

Interment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park with the releasing of the doves.
