Jennings J. Harwell

January 24, 1918 — September 22, 2012

Gastonia-Joseph Jennings Harwell, 94 of Gastonia went home to be with his Lord and Savior September 22, 2012 at Peak Resources.

He was a native of Gaston County, born January 24, 1918 to the late
Lockman Lee and Josephine Pearl Moten Harwell.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 67 years, Ollie Gaddis Harwell, a son Larry Joseph Harwell,
brothers, J.D. and Kenneth Harwell, sister Martha H Poole and a great granddaughter Jessica Humphries.

Jennings was a WWII veteran of the US Navy; and he was a member of Sandy Plains Baptist Church.

Survivors include his sons, Harold Dean Harwell and wife Betty of Gastonia; Robert J 'Bob' Harwell and wife Diane of Columbia, SC
grandchildren, Rick Harwell, Anita Harwell, Tammy Humphries, Sam Harwell, Sharon McKeithan, Rob Harwell, Billy Harwell, Billy Bunt Harwell, Leah Harwell; and Fourteen Great Grandchildren
numerous nieces and nephews
Pallbearers will be Hunter, Gavin, Graeme, Devin, and Jimmy Harwell,
Carl Harrison, Lee Poole and Tommy Hoffman.

Celebration of Life service will be 3:00pm Monday, September 24 at Sandy Plains Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Steve Hensley and A.A. Bailey officiating.
The family will receive friends 1 hr prior to the service.
Burial will be in the church cemetery with military rites by the Gaston County Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Sandy Plains Baptist Church Building fund 5323 Union Road, Gastonia, NC 28056
