Gastonia - Jeffrey George Bumgardner, 61, raised his last toast on October 20, 2018.
A Gastonia native, Jeff was born August 2, 1957 to the late David Calvin Bumgardner, with whom he's now finally sharing another cigar, and the late Betty Quinn Bumgardner, who's delighted to host him for Sunday dinner again.
Jeff lived a full, vibrant life. Few encountered him who didn't share a laugh at his biting wit and penchant for corny jest. Those he held close were extremely blessed to have a friend who not only actively sought out the best life had to offer, but lived to share it with those around him. He loved history, golf, great food, wine, baseball, travel--but most of all his family and his friends.
He graduated from Hunter Huss High School in 1975 and was an alumnus of Chowan Junior College and Arkansas State University. Jeff was the proud co-owner of LPM Labels, Inc. in Dallas, NC with his brother Dana. They started with no customers and no equipment, just a common dream to be masters of their own fortune, together.
He is preceded in death by his oldest son, Brandon, whom he just forgave for wrecking the mustang, and his older brother, David Quinn Bumgardner, with whom he has a tee time with this coming Saturday.
He is survived by his wife Susan Bumgardner, and his sons Alex, William, and Thomas. He also leaves behind his brothers and their families: his brother Ben Bumgardner, wife, Barrett, and sons Scott and Calvin; another brother Dana Bumgardner, wife, Cynthia, son, Austin Bumgardner, and daughter Lauren Current, and Lauren's daughter Payton Current; his late brother David's sons Wesley and Kyle.
He also leaves behind his dearest friends, The He-men. We all forgive him for departing so suddenly on account of the fantastic wine he left us all to enjoy in his memory.
Visitation will be 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Friday, October 26th at Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home, 2916 Union Road, Gastonia, NC
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 27th at Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home Chapel.
Interment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park, Veterans Section with the releasing of the doves.
