1956-2015
Gastonia - Jeffery March Maddox, 58, of Gastonia, North Carolina, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, July 4th, 2015 at Carolinas Medical Center.
Left to cherish his memories are his children, Jeremy and Rachel Maddox; daughter-in-law Danielle Maddox; siblings Apryl Phillips, Blair Maddox and his wife Kathy, and Jackie Hardin and her husband Scott; and ex-wife, Martha Freelander Maddox.
Jeff was born to the late Thomas and Frances Wilson Maddox in Valdosta Georgia, at Moody Air Force Base on December 12, 1956. He retired as a Major from the United States Air Force. As a Harley Davidson enthusiast, Jeff recently participated in the Rolling Thunder ride in Washington D.C. He proudly earned his PhD and accomplished the rank of Eagle Scout. Jeff loved to travel the world and completed the El Camino pilgrimage in Spain. In fact, he recently published a book about his experience, Meeting My Guardian Angel.
Out of all of his accomplishments, he would tell you his greatest enjoyment was his family and friends.
The visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home 2916 Union Road, Gastonia, North Carolina 28054
A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, July 9, 2015 at the funeral home, followed by a graveside service at Gaston Memorial Park with military honors by the Gaston County Honor Guard.
