Jean H Stroupe
Dallas- Eddie Jean Harris Stroupe, 84 of Dallas passed away peacefully February 16, 2014 at Robin Johnson House, with her family by her side.
A native of Durham, North Carolina, she was born on February 10, 1930, the only child of the late Thomas Jarvis Harris and Fanny Minnick Harris.
Jean graduated with honors from Durham High School, and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a degree in Education, and a Masters degree in Education from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She also attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and it is there that she met her husband of fifty-nine years. A true educator, Jean was first grade teacher to many children over the course of her 35 year career with North Carolina Public Schools. She taught in Chapel Hill, Charlotte, Gastonia and Dallas, and she remembered and loved every student who sat in her classroom. Her exuberance and passion for life was infectious, and she greeted each day and every person she met, with a big beautiful smile. Jean was an active member of Holy Communion Lutheran Church, where she served on numerous committees, and was instrumental in launching new programs that exist to this day. As a devoted wife and mother, she simply enjoyed being with her family, laughing and talking, making a wonderful home, establishing traditions, and creating lasting memories. She was an avid reader and enjoyed the challenge of crossword puzzles, as well as needlepoint, knitting and crocheting. Jean was the kind of person who found beauty in everything and everyone. She appreciated the natural beauty of all of God's creation, especially spring flowers and fall trees, animals of all kinds, classical music, and fine art. Without a doubt, though, the highlight of her week was playing bridge with her childhood friends from Durham.
Survivors include her husband, Lamar Wesley Stroupe;
