James "J. D." Dean Price, 59, of Gastonia, passed away at home on Tuesday, November 01, 2016 with his loving family by his side. He was born in Gastonia and was the son of the late Arthur and Aileen Price Rankin.

"J.D." was a graduate of Ashbrook High School, veteran of 12 years in the United States Navy, member and past Master of South Fork Masonic Lodge #462, Scottish Rite, Oasis Shrine and member of Society of Broadcast Engineers. He was I.T. Manager with W.S.O.C.-TV in Charlotte for 20 years.

"J.D." is survived by his wife of 23 years, Carla Holt Price; daughter, Kayla Anne Price of the home; two brothers, Edward Rankin and wife Terry of Whittier, North Carolina, Mark Rankin of Dallas; brother-in-law, Rev. Harold Holcombe of Gastonia; father-in-law, Carl Holt of Gastonia.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Friday at Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home with a Celebration of Life Service to follow at 3:30 P. M. Friday in the Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Harold Holcombe officiating.

Military Honors by the United States Navy and Gaston Honor Guard and Masonic Rites by the South Fork Masonic Lodge #462 will follow the Celebration of Life Services in the Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home Chapel and "Releasing of the Doves".

"J.D." was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Cathey Holcombe.
