Jayson "JJ" Patrick Burtrum

Jayson Patrick "J J"  Burtrum, a beloved son, brother, and father, left this world suddenly on February 3, 2025, at the age of 44 in Dallas, North Carolina. Born on November 30, 1980, in Gaston County, Jayson brought light into the lives of those around him with his infectious smile and vibrant spirit.

Jayson attended Bessemer City High School where he began to cultivate the fun-loving personality that endeared him to so many. He found joy in working for David Byrd Tree Service, pouring his heart and enthusiasm into his career. Nevertheless, his proudest accomplishment and true joy came from his son, Talon, whom he loved unconditionally. Their bond was a testament to the depth of love Jayson carried in his heart.

Family gatherings were precious to Jayson, and he cherished every moment spent laughing and celebrating with loved ones during the holidays. He had an innate ability to uplift others, making everyone feel welcomed and valued. His legacy of love and laughter will forever echo in the hearts of his family and friends.

Jayson is survived by his beloved mother, Roma Ratchford Byrd (Rogie), his son, Talon Burtrum, and his brother, Chad Burtrum (Debbie). He adored his nieces and nephews, Alexis, Haley, Stephanie, AnnaBelle, Chad, Jr., and Sophia, forging special memories that they will cherish for a lifetime. He also leaves behind several cousins who will remember him with fondness.

He is preceded in death by his father, Patrick David "Pat" Burtrum, and his brother, Travis Crowe, grandparents, Ken and Claudette Ratchford.. They will meet him now in eternity, creating a reunion filled with love and laughter.

Jayson's interests were as diverse as his personality; he had a passion for helping friends. These hobbies allowed him to share his enthusiasm with others, often igniting joy through shared experiences and learning.

As we gather to celebrate his life, we invite all who knew him to join us for a visitation on February 8, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, followed by a memorial service at 1:00 PM, held at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home and Cremation located at 2916 Union Road, Gastonia, NC 28054.

Jayson's spirit will remain alive in the hearts of those he touched. His warmth, kindness, and love for life will be profoundly missed but never forgotten. The memories we hold will carry him with us always, reminding us of the joy he brought to our lives and the love that will continue to bind us together.
