Belmont – Janet Rathbun Hicks, 71, joined our heavenly Father peacefully on April 21, 2016 at Courtland Terrace.
She was born in Flint, Michigan on May 5, 1944 to the late Reverend Rufus and Ida Laverne Brown Rathbun
Janet was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed! She was a member of East Belmont Church of God. Janet was the most loving and compassionate person that ministered to everyone who crossed her path. She always put everyone before herself; her loving sweet spirit was a blessing to many throughout her lifetime.
Left to cherish her memories include her husband of 47 years, Charles "Newt" Hicks; daughter, Sharon Whitt and husband Justin of Belmont; sons, Matthew Hicks of Denver and Harold W. Hicks of Virginia; grandchildren, David Hicks, Jr., Tyson Bittle and Samantha Whitt
brother, John Rathbun (Linda) of Petal, MS; sister, Linda Koprowski (Tom) of California;
Celebration of life service will be held Saturday, April 23rd at 4:00 p.m. at East Belmont Church of God with Reverend Thomas Tatum officiating with the releasing of the doves.
Visitation for family and friends will be from 3:00 – 4:00 p.m. prior to the service.
Interment will be private at Greenwood Cemetery in Belmont at a later date.
Memorials may be made to East Belmont Church of God, 320 Catawba Street, Belmont, NC 28012.
