Kings Mountain – James Stewart, 78 passed away peacefully June 3, 2017 at his residence.
He was born in Mecklenburg County on August 1, 1938 to the James Lonnie and Mary Kimble Stewart.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Wilma Johnson Stewart, son Robert Johnson, brother Don Stewart, sisters Maxine Stokes, Betty Thurman
Survivors include his children Gary Hensley and wife Janet, Jimmy "JimBo" Stewart and wife Leigh Ann, Christine Goodson; brother Bobby and wife Cheryl; 11 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren; special caregivers (he thought of them as his daughter and granddaughter) April and Cheyenne Asbury
The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 6th at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home
Graveside services will be at Westview Gardens, Garden of the Well section with Reverend Harry Davis and Reverend Robert Hull officiating.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons, JoJo, Dustin, Steven, Brian, James, Dylan, Travis.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Gaston Hospice, P.O. Box 3984, Gastonia, NC 28054
