James "Jimmy" Robert Queen

James “Jimmy” Robert Queen, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on April 18, 2024, at CaroMont Regional Medical Center. He was born on September 15, 1948, and throughout his life, he touched the hearts of many with his loving and caring nature.
 
 In his career, Jimmy worked in textiles for most of his life and later retired from Freightliner, where he proudly served as a union member. His dedication to his work was reflective of his commitment to providing for his family.
 
 One of Jimmy's proudest accomplishments was the time he spent with his family. He cherished every moment with his daughter Lisa Dorrill (Tim), grandchildren Morgan Yoon (Yowon) and their daughter Oona, Tiffany Oneyear (Scott), and all those who called him "grandpa."
 
 Aside from his professional life and familial bonds, Jimmy found solace in simple pleasures like fishing and riding his Honda Goldwing trike. His hobbies brought him joy and allowed him moments of peace in the midst of life's hustle.
 
Jimmy Queen will be dearly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife of over 30 years, Brenda Bryson Queen; daughter Lisa Dorrill (Tim); their daughters, Tiffany Oneyear (Scott), Morgan Yoon (Yowon), and her daughter, Oona; as well as by his brothers and sisters-in-law Linda Neikirk; Buck Bryson (Claudette); Larry Bryson (Carol); Gloria "Tinker" Bryson.
 
 He is preceded in death by his parents Charles and Hazel Miller Queen, sister Marie Smith, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Gene, Roy, Betty, Douglas, "Booty," Glenda "Dinky," whose memories he now joins.
 
 A visitation will be held on Friday, April 26th, 2024, at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home and Cremation in Gastonia from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM. Following this will be a graveside service at Gaston Memorial Park, Garden of Time section with Reverend Todd Terry officiating starting at 3:00 PM,  with military honors by the Gaston County Honor Guard. These services aim to celebrate the life and legacy left behind by Jimmy.

Pallbearers will be Eddie Atkinson, Tim Dorrill, Jody Farr, Michael Singleton, James Brienza and Rodney Singleton
 
 Jimmy's warm personality and kind spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in peace knowing that he was loved and cherished by many.
 
 In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gaston County Honor Guard
