James Purser, Sr.
1936-2015
Dallas- James Malcome "Jim" Purser, Sr., 78, passed away at his residence on May 28, 2015 surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Gaston County on August 29, 1936 to the late Wayne and Nell Henson Purser.
Streamer, as most people called him, was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of Community Baptist Church, former Deacon and member of Long Creek Baptist Church. Streamer retired from Textile Parts and Machine after 39 years of service. He also worked many years at Akers Pharmacy.
He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather and cherished spending time with his family. He loved golf, his golfing buddies and spending time at the beach. But most of all, he loved his family and they loved him. He will be greatly missed by all!
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Hazel Arthurs, brother, Roddy Purser and son-in-law Mike McDuffie
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Ruth Williams Purser, the love of his life, whom he married on April 12, 1958; Daughter, Kathy Sanborn and husband Bruce; sons, Mike Purser and wife Erika; Mark Purser and Mitch Purser and wife Mary
Grandchildren; Josh McDuffie (Jess); Brittany McDuffie Chavis (Jared); David Purser, James Purser, Jasmine Purser, Crissy McDorman (Mark); Michael Holcomb
Great-Grandchildren; Brooks McDuffie, Hank Chavis, Madisyn McDorman and Caidyn McDorman
Brother; Ted Purser and wife Melanie; and his beloved dog, Nikki
Celebration of Life Service will be 3:00 p.m. Saturday May 30th at Community Baptist Church with Reverend Matt Seagle officiating and military honors by the Gaston County Honor Guard
Visitation for family and friends will be 2:00-3:00 p.m. prior to the service
Interment will be private
