Gastonia – James William "Jimmy" Nivens, Jr., 66, passed away January 31, 2022, at CaroMont Regional Medical Center with his loving wife by his side.
He was born in Gaston County on March 10, 1955, to the late James William Nivens, Sr. and Maxine Long Hill. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his step-father Ray Hill and his step-sister Vanessa Whitaker.
Jimmy enjoyed fishing and was a fan of all sports. He was a fan of NASCAR, watching football, the winter and summer Olympics, and most of all he found joy in making many happy memories with his family.
Left to cherish Jimmy's memories is his loving wife, Pam Nivens; his sons Michael Nivens (Jennifer), Jamie Nivens; daughter, Crystal Nivens; sister, Lynn Wortman (Mark); ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild; and his step-brothers, Charles Hill, Hilton Hill, Arvel Hill, Carroll Hill, and Tim Hill.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday February 8, 2022, from 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. at Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Withers and Whisenant Chapel with Reverend Tommy Holbrooks, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Hollywood Cemetery in Gastonia.
Pallbearers will be Jamie Nivens, Michael Nivens, Shane Mann, Jason Bradley, Scott Workman, and Mark Hill.
