James Arnold McDonald

February 14, 1934 — October 22, 2017

James Arnold McDonald, 83, formerly of Stanley, passed away at his son's home in Denver on Sunday, October 22, 2017 with his loving family by his side. He was born in Grindstone City, Michigan and was the son of the late Bennett and Annie Foster McDonald.

Mr. McDonald was a graduate of Detroit Institute of Technology with a BS degree in Finance, Accounting and Minor in Law. He retired from Colt, Industries (Garlock Industries) in Gastonia. After retiring from Garlock Industries, he was owner of Aquapura Pool Supplies, Inc. He was a veteran of the United States Army.

Mr. McDonald is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Margaret "Marge" McDonald; two loving daughters, Julia McDonald of Lucia, Susan Capps and husband Jimmy of Lillington, North Carolina; one son, Daniel McDonald and wife Ruth Petterson of Denver; two brothers, Cecil McDonald and wife Mary of Muskegon, Michigan, Dell McDonald of Denver, Colorado; two loving grandchildren, Bennett Graham, Madeline Ruth, and extended family Jonathan and Emmy McLamb, children Hunter, Trevor and Parker.

The family will receive friends on Saturday October 28, 2017, from 11:00am to 12:00pm at Denver Gospel Hall, 4733 North Highway 16, Denver with a Celebration of Life Service to follow on Saturday at 12:15pm with David Petterson officiating. All are invited to share lunch with family and friends following the service.

Interment will follow at Hillcrest Gardens, Mt. Holly with Military Honors by the North Carolina National Guard and the Gaston Honor Guard. Memorials can be made to Lincoln County Hospice & Palliative Care 900 Dontia Drive Lincolnton, NC 28092 or donatehospice.org.
