Gastonia – James Daniel McDaid, 70 passed away peacefully on July 3, 2018 at the Robin Johnson House.
He was born in Gaston County on February 12, 1948 to the late John Raymond McDaid and Alice Moore McDaid.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a sister Jeanie McDaid Simmons, two brothers, John and Phillip McDaid; and brother in law, John White.
Dan was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church. He enjoyed history and civil war; he also enjoyed doing stain glass. Dan was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Dan is survived by his children, Josh (Brittany) McDaid, Maggie McDaid, Jennifer (Chuck) Lopp and Shane Jordan; grandchildren, Caroline and Lincoln McDaid;
sisters, JoAnne White, Mary Lane (Roy) Smith, Alice (Ned) Denton and Catherine Brookshire; mothers of his children, Nancy Miller and Alva Smith.
Dan will be buried at Globe Valley Cemetery, Globe Valley, NC at a later date per his request.
Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, July 21, 2018 at 11:00 a.m., at First Presbyterian Church, 412 West Trade Street, Dallas, North Carolina.
