Dallas James Ralph "J.R." McCutcheon, 86 passed peacefully surrounded by family on April 15, 2017 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center.
He was born in Union County, December 29, 1930 to the late A.B. and Emma Willard McCutcheon
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by 2 grandsons Jonathan Gibson and Christopher Lee McCutcheon, great granddaughter Baby Angel, 6 brothers and 1 sister.
J.R. worked over 33 years at Duke Power; he served in the National Guard. He enjoyed hunting, fishing; he was a out doorsman … He loved keeping his family close and was demanding. He always said "I might not always be right, but I'm NEVER Wrong'" !!!
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Sarah Williams McCutcheon; his children David McCutcheon (Debbie), Eddie McCutcheon (Karen), Kay DeWeese (Robert), Ralph McCutcheon (Beverly), Laura Merrick (Jeff), Dana Gibson (Ronnie), James Tyler, Nicole Green (Michael); 20 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren; sister Mary Jo Young (Roy)
The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until 2:00 p.m., Monday, April 17th at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home with a Celebation of Life service at follow at 2:00 pm in the Chapel with Reverend Robert Baker officiating.
Interment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park , War Memorial 1 section.
Pallbearers will be David McCutcheon, Lucas Gibson, Kenneth DeWeese, Michael McCutcheon, Jon Matthew McCutcheon, Brad McCutcheon, Buddy Bell, Jr. and D.J. Howell
