Gastonia-James Billy Morgan, Sr. 78 of Gastonia went to his Heavenly Home July 22, 2013 at his residence.
He was a native of York County, SC born August 27, 1934 to the late James Troy and Viola Mae Daves Morgan.
Jim was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving as a military policeman. He was a member of Garden Memorial Presbyterian Church, and was an avid fisherman and loved to bowl in his younger years. He had retired from overnight as office /mechanic

Survivors include his wife of over 33 years, Shelbie Beatty Morgan;
his children Lawrence Upton and wife Rose of New London, NC; Steven Morgan of Orlando, FL; James Billy Morgan, Jr. of Gastonia; William Edward Barley of FL; Annette Harrison of GA; Sherie Apperson of Charlotte; Steven M Benfield of Statesville
Brothers Ronnie and George Morgan; Sisters Betty Barber, Brenda Messer, Gladys Mills, Patricia McKinney and Marie Frieze Seventeen grandchildren and Eleven great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00pm prior to the service at the church.
Celebration of life service will be 3:00pm Wednesday, July 24 at Garden Memorial Presbyterian Church, Sam Wilson Road, Charlotte with Rev. Rob Chambers officiating.
U.S. Army military honosr to follow the service
Interment will be private, Honorary pallbearers will be his fishing buddies
