Belmont-James Arthur "Fotch" Hammonds, 87 of Belmont died suddenly May 2, 2014 at his residence.

He was a native of Benham, KY, born October 1, 1926 to the late Lloyd Marion and Stella Ramey Hammonds.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and he was the youngest of eleven siblings.

Jim was a member of Maranatha Temple Church, where he was very active in serving in the Lord. He enjoyed hunting, working in the yard and taking care of his pool. Jim loved staying busy all the time. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne. He had retired from Euclid, Inc in Cleveland, Ohio with more than 25 years of service. Jim was a loving husband, father and grandfather and a friend to all..

his daughters Deborah Bishop and husband Benny of Gastonia,
Patricia Watson and husband Alan of Ohio,
Traci Newton and husband Dr. Phillip Newton of Dunn, NC;

His Grandchildren, Jamie Vivolo and husband Dominic, Angie Sheppard and husband Joel, April Anderson and husband Brent, Lindsay Watson and fiancée Zach Underwood , Halle Watson, Lauren Peters and husband Scott, Hunter Newton and wife Rebekah, and Madison Newton; Twelve Great Grandchildren and his beloved dog, Marley

The family will receive friends from 11:30 until 1:00 pm, Saturday, May 10th at Maranatha Temple Church of God, with A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, May 10th at Maranatha Temple Church of God, 2435 Redbud Drive, Gastonia, NC 28056 with Reverend Jeremy Burrell and Dr. Phillip Newton officiating. Military Honors will be rendered by The Gaston County Honor Guard
Interment will be private.
