Dallas - James Luther Ferguson, 94, passed away peacefully on Nov. 22 at Caromont Regional Medical Center.

He was a native of Gaston County and was the son of the late Zeb Ferguson and Myrtle Jones Ferguson. He was married to the late Edwynne Shell Ferguson for 68 years.

James' life was his wife Eddie, and his family. His years were filled with football, baseball, basketball, band concerts, dance recitals, and the river. He was known for his ability to apply a beautiful finish to wood and spent many years as a supervisor for this area in the furniture industry. James overcame Polio and won the Gaston County tennis championship in his "tweens" age bracket.

He joined the Army in 1943 and was involved in the battles of North Africa and Italy, where he was awarded two purple hearts. His unit at Anzio was driven back, and he spoke of returning fire while standing in the water.

Survivors include sons James E. Ferguson and wife Susan, John D. Ferguson and wife Ruth, Joseph E. Ferguson and wife Mary; grandchildren Michele Ferguson Falls and husband Jeremy Daniel Falls; Tisha Ferguson Langill, John Daniel Ferguson II and wife Wendy Baucom Ferguson; Lindsay Ferguson Hall and husband Christopher Scott Hall; Christine Ferguson Weaver and husband William Joshua Weaver; great grand children Lauren Michele Falls, Madison Elizabeth Falls, Taylor Hughes Gary, Abby Grace Ferguson, Kate Maris Ferguson, (triplets) Sophie Jane Hall, Harper Shell Hall and Bristol Lee Hall; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of life service will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday, November 26th at First United Methodist Church 301 West Main Street, Dallas with Reverend Caroll Flack officiating

The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. prior to the service

Interment will follow at Long Creek Cemetery with Military honor by the Gaston County Honor Guard and the U. S. Army.
