Gastonia- James Robert "Bob" Carter, 74 died peacefully at his residence on January 17, 2014 following an extended illness.
Bob was a native of Gaston County, born December 16, 1939 to the late Fred T. and Selma Warren Carter.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Lisa Jane Carter.
Bob retired from the City of Gastonia with 30 years of service where he retired with the rank of Captain in the Gastonia Police Department. He worked for 5 years following the Police Department at Belmont Abbey College Campus Police. He then went on to CaroMont Regional Medical Center where he retired with 12 years of service in Safety and Security. He was also a veteran of the US Marine Corps.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Frances "Jane" E. Carter, daughter Leslie Carter Pasour and husband Mike of Gastonia; son, James Eric Carter and wife, Kim of Gastonia; grandchildren, Christopher Pasour, Jessica Pasour Summey and husband Chad, Payton Carter, Bleu Carter, Abbey Carter and Hunter Carter, all of Gastonia; sisters Betty Stewart of Gastonia and Carolyn Fletcher of Kings Mountain. He had many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from Monday 2:00 to 3:00 pm at Fraley Memorial Baptist Church.
A Celebration of Life Service will be Monday at 3:00 pm at Fraley Memorial Baptist Church with Dr. Warner Doles officiating.
Interment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park in the Dogwood Section with The Gastoina City Police and The Gaston County Honor Guard doing the Police and Military Rites
In Lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the Robin Johnson Hospice House 5005 Shepards Drive Dallas, NC 28034 or Fraley Memorial Baptist Church 3025 Fraley Church Road Gastonia, NC 28054
