Bessemer City – Jacqueline "Jackie" Thornburg Buchanan, 64 passed away peacefully on November 8, 2017 at the Robin Johnson House with her loving family by her side.
She was born in Gaston County on May 10, 1953 to Bobby Loy and Sarah Lytton Thornburg.
Jackie was a loving and caring person who always helped people; she always seemed to find a way to help others. Jackie had fond memories of her childhood growing up with her cousins that she loved dearly. Her pride and joy was her granddaughter, Tori! She loved being in the mountains whether she was visiting Lake Geneva Resort, Lake Lure or Chimney Rock. Jackie enjoyed listening to the Beatles and loved spending time at the beach. She was a loving daughter, mother, grandmother and sister who will be greatly missed!
Left to cherish her memories includes her sons Billy Buchanan and Richard Buchanan (Yetta) her granddaughter, Tori Buchanan; her parents, Bobby Loy and Sarah Lytton Thornburg; brothers and sisters, Buddy Thornburg (Rose); Gail Brannon (Gaither); Jean McSwain (David); Jane Clemmer (Sonny); and her beloved fur babies, Hopper and Dixie;
father of her children, Ricky Ellis Buchanan.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Saturday, November 11th prior to the Celebration of Life Service 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home with Reverend Steve Weaver officiating.
Interment will be private.
