Jack Allen Sarvis
1949-2016
Gastonia – Jack Allen Sarvis, 67, went to be with the Lord on August 29th at his residence.
He was born in Gaston County on February 8, 1949 and the son of the late Earl and Aileen Wellman Sarvis.
As a young man he attended church at First Baptist Church and was baptized. Jack moved to Wilmington, Delaware when he was 7 years old. He graduated Tech School as a sheet metal apprentice and went into the U.S. Army in 1967, where he was awarded a Purple Heart in the Vietnam War. After serving in the Army, he returned to Delaware for a short while and worked as a sheet metal apprentice where he spent his summers in Lewis, Delaware by Rehoboth Beach and loved cruising and talking about his cars. Jack returned to live in Gastonia with his retired father in the 1980's. He was a generous, kind hearted man and would never refuse help to anyone in need.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Franklin Earl Sarvis.
Survived by his sister, Frances Gail Haman and her husband Robert; niece, Jennifer Elaine Haman all of Moore Haven, FL;
Family will receive friends from 10:30 until 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 2nd at Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home prior to the service.
A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home with Reverend Dale Lawing officiating.
Interment will be at Mountain Rest Cemetery, Kings Mountain with Military Honors by the Gaston County Honor Guard.
