Dallas – Jack Addison Bowen, 78, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 23, 2023 at his residence with his family by his side.
He was born in Gaston County on June 30, 1944 and was the son of the late Lewis and Essie Bowen. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his ten siblings.
Jack enjoyed hunting with his dogs and dealing in trading. He retired from a long career in textiles. He worked for Pharr Yarns for many years.
Jack is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Mary Elizabeth Haney Bowen; his children, Christina and husband Lester Bell, Kenneth Bowen, and Lori and husband Randall Absher; his grandchildren, Justin Bell, Travis Bell, Brandon Bell, Brittany Queen, Elizabeth Queen, Tyler Queen, Jesse Bowen, and Mikayla Absher; great grandchildren, Peyton Bell, Paisleigh Bell, Kinslee Bell, Oliver Hoefner and Stetson Bowen; brother, L.B. Bowen; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Sunday, June 25th at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, June 26th at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Lincolnton.
