"Jack" Benton

August 17, 1941 — March 10, 2015

Dallas – Earl Jackson "Jack" Benton, Jr., 73 passed away March 10, 2015 surrounded by his loving family at his residence.

He was born in Mecklenburg County on August 17, 1941 to the late Earl Jackson Benton, Sr and Virginia Mitchell Benton. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother Jimmy Benton.

Jack battled cancer for over a year, but at 6:35 pm Tuesday he won his battle.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, and was a member of First United Methodist Church where he was active, serving on staff parish relations committee. Jack LOVED playing golf, (this was his passion) on Saturdays with his buddies and sometimes with couples on Sunday. He also enjoyed all sports especially baseball. He retired from Kluttz Heating & Foundry.

Survivors include his loving wife of 52 years, Yvonne Davis Benton; his sons, Jackie and wife Misty Benton, their children Jay, Justin and Jeremy; Gary and wife Tomie Benton and their children Jamie, Jessica and Christa; great grandchildren, Julian, Jaylan, Jace, Aby, Kamryn and Alexis; brother Tom and wife Shirley Benton and their children Kim and Blake; sister Sandy and husband Brent Roberson and their children Jennifer, Heather and Ashleigh.

Funeral Service will be Friday, March 13th at 11:30 am at First United Methodist Church with Reverend Caroll Flack officiating.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Thursday at First United Methodist Church
Honorary Pallbearers will be the Christian Fellowship Sunday School Class

Interment will be private at Warsaw Cemetery

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, 301 W. Main Street, Dallas, NC 28034 and Gaston Hospice, P.O. Box 3984, Gastonia, NC 28054
