Gastonia-Imogene Viola Chambers Johnson, 70, of 2900 Union Road Gastonia went home to be with the Lord Friday, June 17, 2011 at Gaston memorial Hospital
She was a native of Lumpkin County, GA, born September 1, 1940 to Reverend Howard and Mary Lou Wilson Chambers.
Imogene was a faithful member of Soul's Harbor Tabernacle for over 30 years. . She will be remembered most for her loving care for everyone.
She always gave out of her need and knew God would always make a way, just as he did. She was a former CNA with White Oak Manor in Kings Mt.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Teresa Mixon;
a sister Shelby Thompson
Survivors include her daughters, Debbie Messer and husband Joe; Mary 'Toddie' Weaver and husband Wendell; Pam Race all of Gastonia; a son-in-law Jonnie Mixon of Bessemer City; a brother, Rev James Chambers and wife Betty of Gastonia; sisters: Louise Grant and husband Ronnie; Betty Shook and husband Charles all of Gastonia; Geraldine Burford of Garner; and Marcella Hovis of Dallas; Special Cousin Carolyn Thomas; 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews-each one special.
The family will receive friends Sunday 6:00 until 9:00 pm at Soul's Harbor Tabernacle Church
Celebration of life service will be 2:00pm, Monday, June 20, 2011 at Soul's Harbor Tabernacle with Rev. James Chambers, Rev. Chuck Poole and Rev. Jim Messer officiating
Interment will follow at Bessemer City Cemetery.
