I. Warner Doles

Gastonia – Dr. Iverson Warner Doles III, 81, ran into the arms of his Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ his Lord and Savior on May 17, 2022 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Birmingham, Alabama on September 16, 1940 to the late Iverson Warner Doles, Jr and Sarah Daniels Doles. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Neal Doles and Harold Doles, and a grandchild, Ivey.

He was a faithful Servant, along with his wife, Glenda, by his side at Fraley Memorial Baptist Church for 30 wonderful years. Dr. Doles was in the Ministry for over 48 years, proudly serving 5 churches. He served in the U.S. Navy for 4 years and later in the Air National Guard.

Dr. Doles enjoyed fishing, golfing, reading and spending time with his family. Dr. Doles was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He also loved his church family at Fraley Memorial Baptist Church, they were never "members" to him, they were his and Glenda's family. Dr. Doles received his Doctor of Ministry Degree from the Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary at Wake Forest in North Carolina. He majored in biblical studies and graduated with honors 1986. He earned a Master of Divinity Degree from the Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary at Wake Forest in North Carolina and graduated with honors in 1981. He earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Palm Beach Atlantic College in West Palm Beach, Florida. He Majored in religion with a minor in biblical languages. Dr. Doles was awarded the Rosalind Strouse Religion Award and graduated with a 3.48 GPA in 1978.

He proudly served the following churches as pastor; Fraley Memorial Baptist Church in Gastonia, North Carolina since June 1992; Oak Grove Baptist Church in Mebane, North Carolina from March 1987 to November 1991; Glen Hope Baptist Church in Burlington, North Carolina from December 1984 to March 1987; Saint John's Baptist Church in Raleigh, North Carolina from January 1982 to December 1984; Poplar Springs Baptist Church in Zebulon, North Carolina from April 1979 to December 1981; Cypress Creek Baptist Church in Pompano Beach, Florida from December 1977 to December 1978. He also Served on Worship Committee, Baptist State Convention of North Carolina from 1997 to1999; Evangelism committee, Greater Gaston Baptist Association in 1998; Chairman of Finance Committee, Greater Gaston Baptist Association from1999 to 2000; President of Pastor's Conference, Mt. Zion Baptist Association in1985; Resolutions Committee, Mt. Zion Baptist Association in 1984; Chairman of New Work Committee, Raleigh Baptist Association in 1982; Ordination Committee, Raleigh Baptist Association in 1982; Instructor of Biblical Studies, Caswell assembly from 1982 to1983; Instructor of Biblical Studies, College Students Convention, Ridgecrest, North Carolina in 1983; Resolutions Committee, North Carolina Baptist Convention in 2001; Personnel Committee Greater Gaston Baptist Association in 2002. He was Currently Serving on Ministerial Advisory Board, Gardner-Webb University. Executive Committee of Greater Gaston Baptist Association; Chairman of Steering Committee for 2002 Bond Issue, Greater Gaston Baptist Association.

Dr. Doles Served on Board for Cued Speech in Raleigh, North Carolina in 1982 and Served as Co-Chair on the board for the Shelter for Battered Women in Gastonia, North Carolina.

Left to cherish his memory is the love of his life, best friend, and devoted wife of 34 years, Glenda Cannon Doles; his children, Iverson Warner Doles, IV and wife Rosalie, Holly Elizabeth Cimino and fiancée Tommy Bullock, Jason Scott Brown and wife Kerrie Ann, Julie Brown Freeman and husband, Adam; Grandchildren, Victor Cimino III and wife Kirsten, Iverson Luke Cimino, Hope Elizabeth Cimino, Kyle Scott Brown, Grace Marie Brown, Allyson Claire Freeman, Jocie Caroline Freeman; 2 great grandchildren, Levi Victor Cimino and Caleb Blu Cimino; and a brother, Danny Doles;
and his wonderful church family at Fraley Memorial.

Dr. Doles will lie in state at Fraley Memorial Baptist from 10:00 until 12:45 on Monday, May 23, 2022. ************The family will not be present**********

A Celebration of Life service will be 1:00 p.m., Monday at Fraley Memorial Baptist Church, 3025 Fraley Church Road, Gastonia with Pastor Charles Keller officiating.
Military Honor will be by the Gaston County Honor Guard and the U.S. Navy.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Glenda Doles and family.
