Horace Andrew Shoemaker

June 9, 1923 — January 20, 2018

Cramerton - Horace Andrew Shoemaker, 94, entered into Heaven on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at Courtland Terrace with his loving family by his side. He was born in Newport, Tennessee and was the son of the late Ben Harrison and Irene Holt Shoemaker.

Mr. Shoemaker was a veteran of the United States Navy during World War II. He was a member of the Last Man's Club of Gaston County.

Mr. Shoemaker retired from Burlington Industries of Cramerton where he was a Supervisor. He was a member of Cramerton Free Will Baptist Church, where he served as Sunday School Superintendent, Choir Member and Deacon.

Mr. Shoemaker was a true gentleman and "Hero" serving our country during World War II.

Mr. Shoemaker is survived by his two loving sons, Art Shoemaker and wife Millie of Belmont, Roger Shoemaker and wife Gail of Gastonia; two step-sons, George Reece (Elaine), Deva Reece (Nancy); step-daughters, Brenda Reece Austin (Sherrill); three grandchildren, Shannon Shoemaker Conrad (Don), Kim Shoemaker Wells (Fred), Dale Shoemaker (Pam); six great grandchildren, Freddie Wells, Jr., Mary Carson Wells, Madison Shoemaker, Caroline Shoemaker, Colby Conrad, Kendall Conrad.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at Cramerton Free Will Baptist Church, 426 Woodlawn Avenue, Cramerton with a Celebration of Life Service to follow at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Cramerton Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Josh Baer officiating.

Interment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park with Full Military Honors by the United States Navy and the Gaston Honor Guard.

Mr. Shoemaker was preceded in death by his parents; 1st wife, Bernice Snapp Shoemaker; 2nd wife, Johnie Reece Shoemaker; three brothers, Sanford Shoemaker, Ulyless Shoemaker, Earl Shoemaker.
