Helen Almond Turner

Gastonia- Helen Almond Turner, 76, passed away peacefully on February 15, 2015.

She was born in Gaston County on April 16, 1938 to the late Lawrence and Lucille Spencer Almond

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Lawrence "Larry" Turner and brother, H.C. Almond

Helen was a member of Parkwood Baptist Church and a past member of Flint Groves and East Baptist Church. She taught Sunday School for over (40) years along with other various church functions. She was very active in the community. She was a member of the XYZ Club and served as a volunteer for the Literacy Council. Helen retired in 1997 from the Boy Scouts of America and she was also known for her weekly column in the Gaston Gazette.

Survivors include her daughter Jennifer Morris and husband Clif; grandchildren, Josh and Jessica Shuford; sister, Judy Anton and husband Bill

Funeral service will be held 2 pm Thursday, Feb 19th at Flint Groves Baptist Church, 2017 East Ozark Ave., Gastonia, NC with Reverend Ronnie Bowers and Reverend Chris Howell officiating. Pallbearers will be Chris Almond, Alan Almond, Randy Almond, Josh Shuford, Kenny Rice and Nathan Rice.

The family will receive friends from 12-2 pm prior to the service

Private Interment at Bowling Green Presbyterian Church Cemetery
