Dallas – Helen Elizabeth Ramsey Scoggins, 89, joined her Heavenly Father peacefully on August 22, 2018 at the Robin Johnson House surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Macon County, NC on December 9, 1928 to the late James and Pearl Byrd Ramsey.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Scoggins; brother and sisters, Floyd Ramsey, Hazel Cloninger and Gladys Ramsey.

Helen had a contagious smile that could light up a room. Her greatest treasures were her family, grandchildren and her friends. She was a graduate of Franklin High School and graduated from Kings Business College. Helen was employed by Kincaid Cotton Company where she worked for many years; then for BB&T where she gave many years of dedicated service until retiring. She was a member of Dallas Baptist Church where she was involved in the church choir, WMU, served as the church treasurer and helped with many meal preparations throughout the years. Helen also was a vital part of the Care Ministries, Morning Glories and Senior Love during her lifetime. In her early years, she was involved in her children's PTA and Booster Club programs where she served as an officer. Helen loved being with her family, friends and participating in many church activities. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend who will be greatly missed!

Left to cherish her memories includes her children, Sam Scoggins and wife Justine; Jim Scoggins and wife Beverly; Susan Scoggins Knowles and husband Rick; Nancy Scoggins Janas and husband Mike; Muriel Armstrong and husband Gene; grandchildren, Shannon Jarvis, Brooke Scoggins, Robbie Scoggins, Tyler Knowles, Haley Janas, and Stephen Janas; great-grandchildren, Taylor Scoggins, Alyssa Stroupe and Eliza Knowles; and sister, Beatrice Humphries.

The family extends heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Robin Johnson House for their care and compassion for Helen and their family during this difficult time.

Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 25th at Dallas Baptist Church, 402 W. Trade Street, Dallas with Reverend Scott Henson and Reverend Barron Lee officiating. Family will receive friends from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. following the service in the fellowship building. A private burial will be held at Long Creek Cemetery for the family.
