Helen Ray Hovis

October 28, 1920 — August 18, 2014

Bessemer City- Helen Ray Hovis, 93, went home to be with her Heavenly Father and precious Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ August 18, 2014. She had been at Peak Resources in Cherryville since May 25, 2014. Helen's family wishes to praise the entire staff at Peak Resources for their excellent care and compassion.

Helen was a native of Gaston County and was born on October 28, 1920 to the late Davis Calvin and Mary Etta Teague Ray.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Davis Calvin and Mary Etta Teague Ray; husband Jack L. Hovis, II;
Daughter Ramona Jane Hovis Bridges;
Five brothers Ralph, Richard, Robert, Jerry and Davis Ray, Jr;
Four sisters Hazel Lowery, Edna Scott, Frances James and Betty Bolin

Helen loved gospel music especially Jimmy Swaggart.
She was a loving mother and grandmother and had retired from Wix Corp.
Helen considered James Chambers her pastor and faithfully listened to his T.V. Ministry Broadcast.

She is survived by her loving family Kay Shick of Gastonia, Patricia Davis and husband Earl, Jack L. Hovis, III and wife Janice, Mike Hovis all of Bessemer City; Fourteen grandchildren, twenty- one great grandchildren and ten great great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 pm–3:00 pm Monday, August 25th, 2014 at Soul's Harbor Tabernacle Church, 271 Camp Rotary Road, Gastonia, NC 28052. Funeral service to follow at 3:00 pm with Reverend James Chambers officiating. Pallbearers; Jonathan Davis, Daniel Davis, Luke Hovis, Justin Huggins, Carey Hovis and Ishmael Davis.

Interment will follow at Bessemer City Memorial Cemetery with the Releasing of the Doves. Pallbearers will be her grandsons
