Helen R. Carpenter

December 29, 1917 — July 28, 2010

Gastonia-Helen Richie Carpenter, 92, went home to be with the Lord July 28, 2010, surrounded by her family. She was loved dearly by her children and grandchildren
She was a native of Guilford county, born December 29, 1917 to the late Alfred Plato and Lucy Lyda Richie. She was a lifelong member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Gastonia
She is preceded in death by her parents, her four brothers, A.P. Richie Jr., Frank Richie, Ralph Richie and Therman Richie and a sister, Lovera Richie Marley
Survivors include her husband, Ralph William Carpenter of Clover, SC
her daughters, Marilyn Thompson Crisp and husband Jimmy H. Crisp of Blowing Rock, NC ; Tilley Thompson Cox and husband Charles O. Cox of Atlantic, NC;
Grandchildren: Lee Young and husband Lyn,
Myra Cherry and husband Kevin,
Paige Crisp and wife Tracy
Elizabeth Hayden and husband Jim,
Lt. Col David Cox and wife Sharon
Great Grandchildren: Walter, Lawson and McKenna Young, Taylor, Ian and Connor Cherry, Carson and Carter Ann Crisp, Joshua and Micah Hayden, Samantha and Shannon Cox
One Sister, Viola Ford of Clemson, SC;
Sisters-In-Law, Elizabeth Richie of Raleigh, NC and Frances Richie of Clover, SC.
Celebration of Life Service will be 1:30 pm, July 30, 2010 at Trinity United Methodist Church with Reverend Paul Brown officiating
Family will receive friends at 1:00 pm in the sanctuary of Trinity United Methodist Church
Interment will be private at Hollywood Cemetery
Memorials may be made to Gaston Hospice, P.O. 3984, Gastonia NC 28054 and Trinity United Methodist Church, 1513 Florida Avenue, Gastonia, NC 28052
