Dallas – Helen Mercer Byers, 97, entered into heaven on April 25, 2023. She was living at White Oak Manor, Kings Mt. for several years.
Helen was born in Union County, South Carolina on May 25, 1925 to the late Ernest and Nellie Bryant Mercer. She was also preceded in death by her husband Jennings Ray Byers, who passed in 1982; her siblings, Robert, Paul, Louise, Lois, and Lola.
She was a member of the Dallas Baptist Church. She was very active in children’s church; she loved all the children. Helen enjoyed walking to church each service and being with her church family until her health declined. She also loved her dogs, Baby Girl and Julia.
She is survived by her brother, Gene Mercer, and a sister, Pearl Landers, both of Tennessee; as well as many dear nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; special nephew, Reverend Walter Moore and wife Jan; special caregivers, Gloria Lyles, Mary and Larry Watson and her family at Dallas Baptist Church.
Celebration of Life service will be 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at Dallas Baptist Church with Reverend Robert Baker, Rev. Barron Lee and Rev. Walter Moore officiating.
The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service
Interment will follow at Long Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
