Dallas – Grace Smith Kirksey, 90, passed away peacefully on January 25, 2021 at Belaire Health Care Center.
She was born on March 9, 1930 in Cumberland County, NC to the late Garlie Edgar and Rachel Hair Smith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David Kirksey, her daughter Patsy Ann Overcash, sister, Josephine Barber and a brother Allen Smith
Grace was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend to all…
She enjoyed spending time with her family. One of her favorite things was fishing with her family; she taught all of her children to fish and playing with her dog, Chico.
Left to cherish her memory includes her sons, Steven (Gregg), Charles (Linda), David (Mildred) and Rick (Cathy) and special "son" Roger Griffin; 9 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 21 great-great grandchildren.
All services will be private for the family; A Celebration of Life Service will be held 2:00 p.m., Friday at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home with Pastor John Pelonero officiating.
The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park, Matthew section with the releasing of the doves.

Due to the Covid-19 outbreak, masks and social distancing will be required. If you feel the need to stay home, a card or phone call to the family will be appreciated.
