Gastonia – Gloria Dean Helms, 81, of Belaire Nursing Center, Gastonia, and was formerly a resident of Gaston Place passed away peacefully on April 26, 2014 at Belaire Nursing Center.
She was born in Gaston County, NC, on December 23, 1932 to the late Sidney Savannah and Revis Camp Helms.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her brothers and sisters Franklin Savannah (Eva) Helms, Wilma Helms (Clifford) Falls, Blanche Helms (Dwight) Edwards, Helen Helms (John) Slankas,
Maude Helms (Leroy) Gamble, Kathleen Helms (Harold) Hovis and Emma Jean Helms
Gloria was a lifetime member of Midway Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir and loved to sing the old hymns.
Survivors include a brother Rollins E."Pete" and wife Jean of Oakridge, Tennessee;
Numerous Nieces and Nephews; She was fondly remembered by her niece Marie Helms Schrum and a great nephew Noah Schrum who spent quality time with her.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 7:30 pm, Tuesday, April 29th at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home. A Memorial Service celebrating of her life will be held following the visitation at 7:30 pm, at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home. with Reverend Dale Lawing officiating. Interment will be private.
