Gastonia-Glenn Calvin Messer, 70, of Gastonia passed away on April 4, 2016 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center.
Glenn was born on January 6, 1946 to the late John Alec and Mildred Sue Mullins Messer.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a grandson Mark Reid and sisters Johnnie Mae Blackstock and Ann Owens; and a brother James Messer.
He was a member of the Living Hope Baptist Church and served as a Deacon. He enjoyed playing checkers, cards and bowling; he was a carpenter most of his life.
He is survived by his wife of over 51 years, Marie Earley Messer; his children, James Messer (Nina), Marie Reid (James) and Charles Messer and fiancée Kelly Gensmer; grandchildren Matthew Reid and Ina Marie Messer; brothers Kenneth, Wesley and Richard Messer; sisters Florence Haskett and Brenda Brazwell
The family will receive friends from 2:30 until 3:30 pm prior to the service
A Celebration of life service will be at 3:30 pm, Wednesday at the Living Hope Baptist Church, 609 Osceola Street, Gastonia with Reverends Danny Gardner and David Gardner officiating.
Entombment will be at Gaston Memorial Park with the releasing of the doves
