Dallas- Gladys Costner Rhyne, 87 of 1001 Park Road, Dallas passed away March 30, 2011 surrounded by her family.
Gladys was loved dearly by her husband, children and grandchildren.
She was a native of Gaston County, born March 20, 1924 to the late John F. and Annie Friday Costner. Mrs. Rhyne was a graduate of Dallas High School. She was a charter member of Our Savior Lutheran Church where she was also the church treasury and choir director for over 25 years. She retired from Dalton Truck Sales.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 62 yrs, Dr. Samuel C. Rhyne, a son Samuel R. Rhyne;
brothers, Joe, Pete and Wilkin Costner and a sister, Ruth Huggins
Survivors include her children: Michael C. Rhyne and wife Linda of Gastonia; Robert R. Rhyne of Florida; Anne R. Martin and husband Scott of Dallas and a daughter-in-law Eloise Rhyne; sister-in-law Merle Costner and her daughter Jill Stilwell
Grandchildren: Brant Rhyne and wife Lynnette, Bridgete Hurlburt and husband Brian, Sam Martin and wife Courteney, Joe Martin,Michael Rhyne, Cindy Stewart and Cristy Stewart
Great grandchildren, Amber Block, Abbey Hurlburt, Keeley Rhyne, Bennett Rhyne and Samuel Caden Martin
Family will receive friends 1 hr prior to the service
Funeral service will be 11:00 am, Saturday, April 2, 2011 at Our Savior Lutheran Church with Rev. Edward Harper and Rev. Caroll Flack officiating
Interment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park with the Releasing of the Doves
