1923-2019

Gastonia - George William Wilson, Jr., 95, entered into Heaven on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at Stanley Total Living Center. George was born in Gaston County on October 23, 1923 and was the son of the late George Wilson, Sr. and Mildred Henderson Wilson.

The family wishes to thank the staff and especially, Janet, of Stanley Total Living Center for their care for Daddy.

George was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corp during World War II. He was a past member of Union Presbyterian Church. He was a lifelong farmer, and enjoyed giving away God's bounty of his gardens.

He was a founding member of the Union Road Volunteer Fire Department.

George leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife of 69 years, Frances Hamrick Wilson; two sons, Len Wilson (Patricia), Billy Wilson (Susan); three grandchildren, Amy Taylor (James), Michael Wilson, Shane Wilson; two great granddaughters, Kenly Taylor, Caroline Taylor.

Graveside Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 19, 2019 at Union Presbyterian Church Cemetery with Pastor James Holeman. Full Military Honors will be by the North Carolina National Guard and the Gaston Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends after the Graveside Services at the gravesite.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Union Presbyterian Church, 5615 Union Road, Gastonia, North Carolina 28056.
