George Johnson
1920 -2016
Gastonia – George Francis Johnson, 95, passed away on June 25, 2016 surrounded by his family and in the devoted, loving care of hospice at the Robin Johnson House.
He was born in New York on July 4, 1920 to the late Harry and Alice Feis Johnson.
George was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church. He was a US Army Veteran where he served in World War II. He taught by example and his lessons are part of his legacy. He was a wonderful husband, a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather who will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his loving children, Melissa Johnson; Nikki Johnson and husband Norman Pitzer, John Johnson and wife, Nancy; Wendy Hollingsworth and Jackie Scaduto;
grandchildren, Ted Johnson, Katie Johnson, Mary Lowe, Andrew Scaduto and Joseph Scaduto;
great grandchildren, Johnaton, Taylor, Travis, Makenzie, Shelby and Travis
sister, Mary Johnson and also leaves behind numerous loving relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, George was predeceased by his loving wife of 40 years, Barbara Mannino Johnson; and brother, Harold Johnson
Family will receive friends Sunday, June 26th from 6:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary Prayer Service following at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, June 27th at St. Michael's Catholic Church, 708 St. Michael's Lane, Gastonia, NC 28052 with Reverend Father Matthew Buettner officiating.
Interment will follow at Evergreen "A Quiet Place" with military honors provided by the Gaston Honor Guard.
