1950-2019
George "Jody" Riley Hooker, IV, 69, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center. Jody was born in Mecklenburg County and was the son of the late George Riley Hooker III and Hazel Lineberger Hooker.
Jody was a graduate of Belmont High School and attended Gaston College where he received his degree in Criminal Justice. He was a Police Officer with the McAdenville Police Department and was a Volunteer Fireman with the Community Fire Department, Belmont. He was a member of the Lowell Masonic Lodge #590. He attended St. Mark's United Methodist Church, Belmont.
Jody is survived by his wife, Lori Stegall Hooker; two sons, Riley Hooker V of Lowell, Byron Hooker and wife Donna of North Belmont; one daughter, Melissa Branham and husband Jimmy of Belmont; two step daughters, Monica Furtick, Melaine McLeod and husband Brandon of Belmont; seven grandchildren, Sabrina Caldwell, Quentin Hooker, Skylar Hooker, Fletcher McLeod, Adelaide McLeod, Morgan Branham, Mattie Grace Branham.
The family will have a Celebration of Life Service at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, June 2, 2019 at St. Mark's United Methodist Church, 701 Secrest Avenue, Belmont with Pastor Bobby Whittaker officiating and the family will receive family and friends immediately following the service.
Inurnment will be private and at a later date.
Jody was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Michael Hooker.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association, Western Chapter, 4600 Park Road, Suite 250, Charlotte, North Carolina 28209.
