Gary E. Queen
1950-2021
Gastonia - Gary Eugene Queen, 70, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 8, 2021 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center. He was born on October 6, 1950 in Gaston County to the late Joe Doc Queen and Mamie Bryson Queen.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings, Willis, J.T., Blanche, Laura Belle, Ed, Ray and Bedford. Two days after his passing, he was followed into heaven by his loving wife of 39 years, Karen McQuage Queen.
Gary Queen was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Gastonia, NC, where he served as a Deacon and Sunday school teacher. Gary was a character and was unofficially known as the "Mayor of Gastonia". He retired from security at Duke Energy and had also worked at the City of Gastonia Police Department. Gary was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a proud King Solomon #704 and Gastonia Lodge #369 member, also the Oasis Shiners. He served on the Gaston Life Saving Crew and many other Non-Profit organizations.
Left to cherish his memories are his; daughter, Stephanie Hamilton (Stuart); three sons; Scott Queen (Tina), Larry and Matthew Brock; grandchildren Duncan, Valarie, Kayla, Morgan, and Colton Brock; great-grandchildren, Layla, Easton, and Dayton; along with several nieces, nephews, and special friends.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 1:15 p.m., prior to a Celebration of Life service to follow at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, March 13th at Temple Baptist Church, 701 Littlejohn Street, Gastonia, NC with Reverend Scott Whitener officiating. Interment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park, Garden of Time section with military honors by the Gaston County Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gaston Hospice, Post Office Box 3984, Gastonia, NC 28054.
