Gary Ray Poole

Gary Ray Poole, 72, passed away suddenly on November 29, 2024. 

 He was born in Gaston County on October 29, 1952 to the late Wylie Poole and Catherine Trantham Poole. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Ronald Poole Kenneth Poole.

Gary was a graduate of South Point High School. He enjoyed golf, baseball, basketball and football. He worked as a machinist for many years. He coached Dixie Youth baseball and Youth basketball in Dallas. He also umpired Dixie Youth Baseball. He loved kids and was a big kid at heart. Gary loved Angel and Annette, but his pride and joy was his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was an avid UNC Tarheel fan.

 He is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Rajeania “Jean” Bell Poole; children, Angela Vincent (Frank), Annette Hardy (George Powell); grandchildren, Christa Long (Chris), Lauren Wooten (Cody), Seth Stroupe (Michaela), Wesley Stroupe(Bayleigh); great grandchildren, Braden Wooten, Sophia Wooten, Carson Wooten and Ava Long; brother, Anthony Poole; sister-in-law, Ruth Bell Ferguson; and many wonderful nieces, nephews and friends.

 Memorial service will be at 11:00 am, Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home Chapel.
