Freddie Steven Foster

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Freddie Steven Foster. Fred met his Savior on Monday, August 19 after a brief illness. His last weeks were spent surrounded by his family with many opportunities for sweet reflections and cherished conversations. Fred was born on March 24, 1945, in Kings Mountain, North Carolina to Raymond and Ruby Falls Foster. He graduated from Kings Mountain High School and pursued additional education and training throughout his adulthood. He was a retired District Supervisor from Food Lion and small business owner after retirement. The most important thing to him was spending time with his family. He was a proud husband, father, and Papa who loved his family well. He exemplified his love for them in his last days by continuing to care for their hearts by comforting them.

Fred was a long-time member of Sandy Plains Baptist Church. He was a wonderful singer and used his talents to sing in church and as the lead in the Weejuns band in high school. He was the state winner of the Soap Box Derby in junior high. Fred enjoyed reading current events and had a hunger for learning. He was a jack of all trades, able to fix anything, and owned any tool ever needed.

Fred is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sheila Hannah Foster, daughters Shan Schultz (Justin) and Lori Watson (Kyle), grandchildren Lanie and Maddie Schultz and Elijah Watson, brother and sister-in-law Dick & Shauna Hannah, sister Patsy Simmons (Eddie), numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Ruby Falls Foster.

The family will be at the home of Justin and Shan Schultz. Funeral services will be held at Sandy Plains Baptist Church Saturday, August 24. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 pm with the funeral at 2:00 pm. Fred served well as the Chairman of the building committee at Sandy Plains. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Sandy Plains Baptist Church Family Life Center renovations.
