Bessemer City - Rev. Fred Anderson High, 78, entered into Heaven on Monday, January 8, 2018 at his home with his loving family by his side. Rev. High was born in Dallas and was the son of the late Hubert Samuel and Lula Pasour High.
Rev. High was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Hubert Samuel High, Jr., Rev. Samuel High, Rev. Clyde High, Judson High, Rev. Charles High;
three sisters, Rachel Kiser, Inez Harris, Elizabeth Baucom.
Reverend High was a graduate of Dallas High School and Wake Forest University. He served as Minister for Chapel Grove Baptist Church; First Baptist Church, Lowell; New River Baptist Church; Jacksonville; North Carolina, Woodlawn Baptist, Lowell; Walnut Grove Baptist Church, Dallas and South Marietta Street Baptist Church. He is a member of Walnut Grove Baptist Church.
Rev. High is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Lora Lipscomb High; two loving daughters, Angie Helms and husband Doug of Gastonia, Melissa Melton and husband Lance of Dallas; one brother, Paul High and wife Pat of Dallas; three sisters, Shirley Caldwell of Dallas, Frances Cauthen of Mt. Holly, Ida Phillips of Gastonia; five grandchildren, Randall Melton, Zachary Melton, Amanda Jones and husband Chapin, Justin Helms, Ryan Maney.
At Reverend High's request, a private interment for the family only will be held on Thursday at Walnut Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. Sunday, January 14, 2018 at Walnut Grove Baptist Church, 3255 Dallas Cherryville Highway, Dallas with a Celebration of Life Service to follow at 2:00 p.m. Sunday with Chaplain Walt Windley officiating.
