Evelyn Jeanette Hicks

Evelyn Jeanette Hicks, 65, passed away peacefully at her residence on January 12, 2025. 

She was born in Gaston County, North Carolina on March 21, 1959 to the late Johnnie and Etta Eaton. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her grandson, Alex Garcia. 

Evelyn was a loving and caring person who never met a stranger. She was always willing and ready to talk to anyone she met. In her free time she enjoyed shopping with her daughter, Brandy and spending time with her family. She also enjoyed working in her yard, keeping up her hanging flowers, and decorating her yard. Evelyn leaves many happy memories to be cherished by all who knew and loved her. 

She is survived by her husband, Joseph Shealey; daughters, Brandy Guardado, Michelle Hicks, and Holly Hodge; ten grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. 

Family and friends will gather for visitation from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 19, 2025 at Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home. A memorial service will 4:00 p.m. in the chapel with Pastor Mike Criswell officiating.
