Gastonia - Martha Eunice King White was born July 29, 1929 to Wyrick M. and Gwendolyn Joy King. On August 13, 2017, Eunice met her Savior Jesus Christ face-to-face, an event she had been preparing for her whole life and was eagerly waiting. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Ralph H. White, her brothers John Thomas King and Bobby Joe King and sister June Ann King.
She is survived by her daughters, Gwen White Lovelace and son-in-law Fred A. Lovelace of Bessemer City, Judy White Fogner of Salisbury, NC and sister Daisy Ruth King of Gastonia.
Other survivors include her nieces Kay King Edwards (Charlie) of Rock Hill, SC, Beth King Teahan (David) of Bradenton, FL, Lisa King Shearer (Rick) of Sanford, NC, Linda King Kiser (Eddie) of Shelby, NC, Susan King Hotchkiss (Jay) of Kannapolis, NC and Cindy King Burford of Gastonia, NC along with numerous great-and great-great nephews and nieces.
Eunice was a faithful wife and loving mother. For more than 50 years, she was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, where she served as an adult Sunday teacher, Sunday School Superintendent, a member of United Methodist Women and various boards and committees.
A gifted seamstress and tailor, Eunice sewed clothing, including bride gowns and formal dresses, for her family and others. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting, and spending time with family, friends and extended family members.
The family would like to thank all her caregivers at Peak Resources in Cherryville for the excellent care she received while there.
A Celebration of life service will be at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, August 17, 2017 at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Harvey Gates officiating.
The family will be receiving friends following the service starting at 7:00 p.m.
