Gastonia- Ernest Edward 'Bill' Trantham, 78 of Gastonia passed away April 10, 2012 at Robin Johnson House after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was a native of Gaston County, born February 4, 1934 to the late Robert Sherman 'Bob' and Lucy Carruth Trantham.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 49 years Rosa Jones Trantham and his son Eddie Trantham.
Bill was a veteran of the US Navy, and former owner of Discount Fabrics. He was a member of the Gaston Shiners Lodge #263, and had retired from Yellow Freight.
Bill was known for his generosity and charm, and his great love for his grandsons. In his later days he enjoyed sitting on the porch and driving with his dog Leo.
Survivors include daughters Sharon Pasour and husband Wayne of Dallas; Brenda Cullinan and husband David of Oak Ridge, NC; daughter-in-law, Patti Trantham of Gastonia; Five Grandsons, Shane Trantham and wife Jenelle of Glendale, Ariz., Matthew Trantham of Gastonia, Jack Cullinan, Alex Cullinan and Patrick Cullinan all of Oak Ridge, NC
Two Brothers Larry Trantham and his wife Brenda of Gastonia, Jim Trantham of Rochester, NY and a Sister Evelyn 'Sis' Lane of Gastonia;
And many nieces and nephews
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 Thursday at Maranatha Baptist Church, Dallas-Cherryville Hwy., Dallas
Graveside service will be 11:00am Friday, April 13, 2012 at Gaston
Memorial Park, Masonic section with the Releasing of the Doves
He will be greatly missed by all that new him and loved him.
