Ernest Ensley

Gastonia- Ernest "Ernie" Grier Ensley, Jr. 65, passed away on June 30, 2014 at his residence. He was a native of Gaston County, born February 11, 1949 to the late Ernest Grier, Sr. and Ruth Elrod Ensley.
Ernest was a member of Flint Groves where he was a former deacon and Sunday School Teacher. He was retired from Corporate Express and was a substitute teacher for Gaston County Schools. He was past announcer for North Gaston High School football and at Sims Park.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Rodney Ensley.
Survivors are his daughter Lana Ensley Eller and husband Zane of Greenville, grandchildren Mason, Hudson and Maddox, brother in law and sister in law David and Vicki Jenkins and son Chad Jenkins, Aunts and uncles Joyce Stroup, Doris and Bob McNew, Randy and Elleree Elrod, Waitsell and Dot Ensley, and Betty Elrod, mother of the daughter Vickie McRainey, girlfriend Nita Smoot of Conway, SC and Jax.
A visitation will be held 2:00 – 3:00 pm Thursday July 3, at Flint Groves Baptist Church.
Memorial service will follow at 3:00 pm at the church.
Burial will be private.
