Belmont- Mrs. Emma Hyde Powers, 84 passed away peacefully April 18, 2015 at Meadowood Nursing Care Center, Gastonia.
She was born in Swain County, NC on November 3, 1930 to the late Ned D. and Margie Hyatt Hyde.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, James E. Powers, her sisters, Eliza Hyde Woods, Lexie Hyde Lee and Ida Hyde Shuler; brothers Hubert Hyde and Edd E. Hyde.
She was a loving mother and sister, and was a good homemaker.
Survivors include her loving son, Terry Joe Moore of Belmont;
her brothers, Dillard "Don" Hyde and wife Nancy; and Ted Hyde both of Belmont, Dennis D. Hyde of Virginia Beach; sisters Betty Hyde Brown of Belmont; and a number of wonderful nieces and nephews
Funeral service will be Tuesday, April 21st at 11:30 am at Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home with Reverend Jeremy Hyde officiating.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:30 am prior to the service at the funeral home
Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Belmont with the releasing of the doves
Pallbearers will be Kent Hyde, Lee Hyde, Jamie Hyde, Lane Hyde, Harold Woods, Tyler Brown,
Charles "Newt" Hicks, Kenneth Woods, Steve Stamper and David Stamper
